Forget Dad Bods, Let James Corden and Ashton Kutcher Introduce You to the Dad Band

It should be pretty obvious from his many shenanigans with One Direction that James Corden is a boy band fan. But what happens when those boy banders grow up and become fathers? Should they fade into obscurity and never be heard from again (unless they’re Justin Timberlake)? No, of course not. They should just form a dad band and sing about dad stuff. That’s what James did last night with his guests Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson of That ’70s Show and new Netlix series The Ranch.

The band is called The Puff Daddies, because why wouldn’t it be? Their hit song “I’m a Dad” is all about, well, exactly what it sounds like — being a dad. As the chorus goes, “I’m a dad, I’m a dad, I don’t go to movies / I’m a dad, I’m a dad, I don’t know that song / I’m a dad, I’m a dad, my dance moves are goofy.” And they do it all with baby dolls strapped to their chests. They might want to rethink some of those dance steps if they ever end up using real babies, though. I’m pretty sure it’s recommended that you don’t throw infants across the room. But what do I know? I’m not a parent.

Of course, as we know, it doesn’t necessarily take long for a boy bander to become better-suited to a dad band. Louis Tomlinson is already eligible. I don’t want to suggest that the other three members of One Direction become fathers to match him so that they can transition into a dad band together. Except I am suggesting that. Even if they all just become one mega-dad to Louis’ boy, I would be satisfied. That way they don’t have to break up, and afterward they can transition into a grandpa band and a great-grandpa band and beyond. (Ghost band?)
